Gorilla tracking in Rwanda
The most famous place to have a face-to-face encounter with the mountain gorilla in Rwanda is Volcanoes National Park. This park offers a lot of variety in nature, like bamboo forests, savannah grasslands, extensive wetlands and 5 volcanoes (Bisoke, Gahinga, Muhabura, Sabyinyo and Karisimbi).
To do a tracking through this park it is important that you are well prepared and in good condition are recommended. The steep and descent volcanoes can be quite challenging.
A mountain gorilla tracking in Rwanda takes place in a group with max. 8 participants. To limit the number of tourists a maximum of 80 permits only are issued per day. This way they avoid too much disturbance for the gorillas. A gorilla trekking in Rwanda is due to these regulations – and a very good conservation program – a more expensive activity than in neighboring country Uganda. Avoiding mass tourism and protect the gorillas in their own habitat is very important to keep the population growing.
